Women & Children First - I Mean, After the Terrorists!

This is absurd.

No, it's beyond absurd. It's inhumane.

First off, the Gitmo group, as a whole, are less likely to be exposed to H1N1 than pregnant women and children. So, how come they get immunized first?

Is this what we can expect from the National Health Care?

If so, count me out.

Goodbye, France!

There has been much discussion about France on the web. France is an epicenter of Muslim activity in Europe. Jihad Watch has a poignant essay about the decline of France:
And then you learn what Jacques Chirac -- who now has a Muslim grandchild himself -- and Dominique de Villepin, do not wish you to learn. For if you did, you might be very angry. You discover that 1 out of every 3 babies born in France today is a Muslim baby. And that means, in 20 years, one of every three 20-year-olds in France will be a Muslim twenty-year-old. And that means, twenty years after that, at present rates of reproduction, France will have a majority Muslim population. Where shall we hide the statues from Marly-le-roi? And the Venus de Milo? And what about all those paintings of animated life -- all those portraits in the Louvre, and the Grand Palais, and the Musée Guimet down there in linden-lined Aix, and everywhere else in art-filled artful France, mère des arts, des armes, et des loix -- that are absolutely forbidden according to the immutable strictures of the Qur'an. Should they be sent for safekeeping to those Americans across the seas? By then most of the Jews in France will have left, gone across the oceans for their own safekeeping, to Israel or to English-speaking Canada (they were worried about the Muslim population of Quebec, you see, which had been allowed to grow under the Province of Quebec's policy of encouraging francophone immigrants, preferring North Africans to potential immigrants from Italy, Greece, Spain), and above all, to America. What luck those Americans have had. No more bequests to France by the likes of the Rothschilds, or Nissim Camondo. No more Donations from another Pierre Lévy. Enjoy the Kufic calligraphy; some find it endlessly fascinating.
What is France without her art? Is she still France?

WHY Isn't Obama Able to Govern As Easily As He Campaigned?

There was a time, that Obama seemed unstoppable.

There was a moment, when Obama seemed to poised to quickly pass his "100 Days" legislation.

This is now. Neither are proving to be true.

Why? Victor Davis Hanson has the answers.

Untangling the Obama Alliances

One thing that many Obama supporters don't realize is the extent of his ties to undemocratic organizations - that is, organizations that have a political agenda and a goal for the future of America, that is designed to fundamentally change the fabric and structure of our country. Many such organizations clothe their underlying purposes with vague, bland talk about "helping poor and working-class people". HOW they plan to help them is clouded in secrecy.

Big Government has a breakdown of that entanglement for one such supporter - the Working Families Party. Why are those ties important?
An important point needs to be made here. President Barack Obama and the Working Families Party are Democratic Socialists.

This is not meant as a judgment. It is simply a fact which the politicians involved with the Working Families Party group should be made to own.

As I have written previously, this is not some kind of neo “Red Hunt”. Not only is that not the point, there is nothing much to hunt. These relationships are out in the open. The point is that the American people have a right to know about the background of a political party to which the President of the United States belongs, and the so-called mainstream media have completely failed the nation in this simple task.
Now, is this Red-Baiting?

No. Big Government just states the facts. The organization work together on goals, they even share the same addresses, for crying out loud!

How can I be sure that this isn't just made up scare tactics?

I formerly attended (and graduated) from a VERY progressive college. I spent quite a lot of time with these people - many of whom were my professors, and the students they influenced. They weren't personally BAD people; they were kind, caring, and supportive of me. But, due to prolonged exposure, I became very familiar with their thinking. I learned how they operated - under the radar, using others in alliances to achieve their aims. They encouraged their students to lead the charges, with the goal of adding more foot soldiers to the cause of change.

They assigned readings in leftist books; they placed them in community organizations; they helped them find internships with leftist groups. One of my friends from college was given MUCH assistance in writing a publishable article, with the help of a professor. On the basis of that assistance, he was able to attend graduate school, and eventually became a Marxist professor (truly - his specialty is Marxism).

Most of them followed philosophies that mirror the Obama allies - socialist, anti-democratic, and with the core desire to completely change American society. I'm not talking about a reform that sweeps out the bad, and keeps the good.

I'm saying that these Obama allies want to completely change the essence of America - politically, economically, religiously, socially, and culturally.

It won't be America anymore.

And I'm against that.

Armed Services Joke

For some reason, this really made me laugh:
The reason the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines bicker amongst themselves is that they don't speak the same language. For instance, take the simple phrase "secure the building"

The Army will post guards around the place.

The Navy will turn out the lights and lock the doors.

The Marines will kill everybody inside and set up a headquarters

The Air Force will take out a 5 year lease with an option to buy.

Probably because there's an underlying truth to it.

Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad...SC?

According to Michelle Malkin, The Mrs. is afraid of SC - South Carolina, that is.

This is predicated on the recent criticism of her (personally, in one case), and her husband's policies. We're expected to acknowledge that a few rude, crude outbursts are comparable to Dallas in 1963 (where, BTW, most of the city warmly welcomed JFK).

Uh, no.

We here in SC have our share of crazies - as what state does not? However, we have generally limit our protests to words.

Unlike her home town, which saw political rioting that trashed the city in 1968, and currently has a violence level that staggers the imagination.

Don't see her refusing to go home for the weekend on account of her "fears".

She's just being petty.

The Problem with Socialism in a Few Words

From Eternity Road

We know from experience that socialism is a process of general impoverishment; it needs infusions of life from capitalist societies to forestall collapse.

I've been thinking about money lately; how to get enough for my retirement, what is "enough", and such.

I'm lucky; both my husband and I are in professions (teaching science) that are in short supply, at least in some areas of the country. There simply aren't sufficient Physics/Chemistry teachers (plus Math, in his case) to fill all available positions. No Child Left Behind has been a blessing to us, personally, as it requires that certified teachers must be used in schools receiving federal money (almost all of them). There has been a frenzy to recruit such teachers in some states, leading to such (to us) fun situations as getting signing bonuses - just like the Major Leaguers.

I'm personally not that big a fan of stockpiling money, in ANY place. The downward spiral of much of my investments over the last year (although SOME have partially recovered) proves the folly of saving big heaps of money. Sad to say, there are few investments that are bullet-proof (or recession-proof).

What does seem to work is paying off debt. Other than the obvious problem of medical care, we really don't need all that much to live on. Once the house and cars are paid off, and all other debt is gone, that leaves regular bills (utilities and the like), food, medicine, and, well, that's about it. So, the majority of our efforts are going to debt reduction.

But that strategy won't work if the government eyes my paid-up home enviously, and readies plans to tax me into selling. It won't work if the accumulation of money in savings is whittled away by inflation. It won't work if the government is broke - they won't do the logical thing, and lay off (or even let go, permanently) employees, cut expenses, and slash unneeded programs (according to many, there is no such critter as an unneeded government program).

When I say government, I mean primarily the House of Representatives. So, it's vital for all of us to work to elect to Congress people who understand that we DON'T want this non-stop orgy of spending to continue. Further, we want these Representatives to start using their red pens on existing programs, and give us relief (that's spelled L-E-S-S T-A-X-E-S, BTW).

2010 is coming fast. Find out the potential candidates, get to know them. Not only their policies and plans, but also their background. Volunteer to vet them, make sure that they won't be rendered hopeless at the last minute by a scandal. Check out their tax returns, their business ties, their affiliations, their recreations. Make sure there are no surprises. Nothing hurts worse than a good candidate derailed by negative headlines (isn't it amazing that they are always at the last minute? You would almost think that the Democrats are playing according to a manual.)

What's the Difference Between Conservatives and Liberals?

Found on Notoriously Conservative:

If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he doesn't want anyone to have one.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants to ban all meat products for everyone.

If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to stand up to his enemy.
If a liberal sees a foreign threat, he wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

Count Every Military Vote!

I read this story about VA Board of Elections with disbelief.
The Virginia State Board of Elections argued in their most recent filing that they have no legal obligation to send out military absentee ballots in a timely manner. Restated, the State of Virginia has argued in a federal court filing that they can legally send out absentee ballots to active duty soldiers the day before an election. Restated again, theDemocratic Chairwoman of the Virginia State Board of Election (appointed by the Democratic National Committee Chair Tim Kaine, in his capacity as Virginia Governor) Jean Cunningham just claimed a legal basis for massively raising the barrier to voting for soldiers at war.
Warning: the link that follows gives access to some heavy-duty legalese; but, briefly stated, it supports the linked post in the title.

I'm going to have to put the Military Voting Rights Project on Facebook on the front burner. Otherwise, jacka$$e$ like this can run roughshod over the GI voting rights.

I Thought This was an Onion Joke!

I was just getting ready for work, when my husband heard that Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize.

"No way!" I said, and promptly Googled (tm) it.

Yeah. Read it here:
It awarded the prize to Obama less than nine months into his presidency. Despite setting out an ambitious international agenda, he has yet to score any breakthrough on the Middle East or Iran's nuclear programme, and faces difficult choices on the conduct of the war in Afghanistan.

Last month Obama chaired a historic meeting of the United Nations Security Council, which unanimously approved a U.S.-drafted resolution calling on nuclear weapons states to scrap their arsenals.

Obama is the third senior U.S. Democrat to win the prize this decade after former Vice President Al Gore won in 2007 along with the U.N. climate panel and Jimmy Carter in 2002.

The prize worth 10 million Swedish crowns ($1.4 million) will be handed over in Oslo on Dec. 10.
Wonder how much of that will end up in ACORN's hands. Probably not much - rich Democrats are notoriously stingy.

That whirring sound you hear is Alfred Nobel twirling in hs grave.

Fox News:
The stunning choice made Obama the third sitting U.S. president to win the Nobel Peace Prize and shocked Nobel observers because Obama took office less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline. Obama's name had been mentioned in speculation before the award but many Nobel watchers believed it was too early to award the president.

"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," the committee said. "His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population."

CNN:
The announcement came as a surprise -- Obama's name had not been mentioned among front-runners -- and the roomful of reporters in Oslo, Norway, gasped when he was named.

In his short time in office, Obama has acted on a wide range of issues from the economy to terrorism and wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

You know, every time I think the Nobel committee has hit a new low, they double up, and reach for new depths.

Commander-in-Chief of Copyright Infringement

I'm having a hard time believing that Obama is so inept. Now he's installing "art" whose only virtue is that the "artist" is Black. Read this story for the details.

Sound Familiar?

So now we are to beg relief from the O'Messiah? I found this video on Curmudgeonly & Skeptical. Can the forced enrollment into the Obama Youth be far behind?

For those who think that comment is WAY over-the-top, I urge them to actually read some Hitler-era (and Stalin-era, which was the same time) reports. Initially, it all seemed harmless, if a bit worshipful. All the kids joined the Hitler Youth and the Red Pioneers. They were just like Boy Scouts, coupled with songs about Our Wonderful Leader. Later, attendance at the youth groups wasn't so voluntary. Schools cooperated in forcing all youth to join. So, you can begin to see why some are uneasy with the schools' eager recruitment of children into singing The Leader's Praises (the quasi-deified phrases should trigger alarms, as well).

This is just 1 aspect of the Age of Obama that many are viewing with suspicion. Ask yourself, if Bush had had groups writing praise-songs to him, and made singing them a part of the school day, wouldn't you have gone gonzo on that? So, why are these activities not tripping the Oh-Oh meter, as well?

Stats Down - Time for Tattoos

Looks very dark - a lot of ink must have been used. I shudder to think of the pain.

This design, although not its placement, have a practical use - when the inevitable spiderweb varicose veins start showing up, it will camouflage the aging.

The page where I found this is very pro-tattoo in women. A sample of that feeling:
Anyone and everyone are getting them, as there no longer is a “type” to get tattoos. Unfortunately, employers still have a say about the acceptability of tattoos if it is in their dress code. They can say no to visible tattoos as long as they are consistent across the board about it. If you have tattoos that can be covered up, you do have a better chance of being hired in corporate America. Tattoos should not affect your hiring status any more than your color, weight, race or anything else except your ability to do the job.

To me, the difference is that your color, weight (to a certain extent), race, etc. are not deliberately chosen. Having chosen a symbol (i.e., the tattoo) that causes some negative feelings, it's hard to see why the owner then says, "you can't think negatively about it."

For many, including myself, the tattoo is not a symbol of beauty. It is a deliberate disfigurement of the body. For many Christians, it is forbidden by the Bible. In some faiths, it can prevent you from going to Heaven.

I'm not such an extremist. But, I don't like tattoos. We get enough "dings" by time; why add to the damage deliberately?

Furthermore, I have seen tattoos that sufficiently mar the face or other visible parts, as to inhibit the wearer from working most jobs. Even the McDonald's-type employers don't want such a person working the front counter - it can be bad for business. And, in a declining economy, every dollar lost hurts.

Most people don't judge an occasional tattoo - sailors, after all, have traditionally sported some body art. Military regs prohibit going over-the-top on this, and so limit it becoming an addiction. But, addiction is becomes for some - who leave as little as possible NOT decorated. That, I believe, is too much.

As far as the "tramp stamp" - think about this. You wouldn't be judged by it if it was kept under wraps except in intimate circumstances. But, when it is on display night and day, exposed by sagging or skimpy clothing, don't be shocked when a judgment is made by the world.

Polanski Offense, Explained by Dragnet

This is incroyable (to use the French word). Don't stop before the end, for a list of the moral nincompoops that defend child molestation.

ACORN Under Another Skirt

If you don't already read Big Government, add it to your RSS feed. It's jam-packed with information about how the leftist organizations are conspiring to steal money from the rest of us. They're the ones that first aired that video of the ACORN sting - where 2 filmmakers posed as a pimp and his "lady", and recorded ACORN employees assisting and abetting that supposed criminal enterprise (which involved prostitution of teens). No moral objections, just "we're here to help".

Right now, there's more investigative reporting of the intertwined connections between ACORN and the Working Families Party, SEIU, and other groups that are trying to pick the American taxpayer's pocket under the guise of helping the poor. They aren't even trying to provide the services they promised, they are just grabbing the money and running.

It's a classic operation of a criminal enterprise.

Lies of the Left

This COULD be a lengthy post. But, I'll try to winnow it down to a reasonable length. The CA Parent Bribery 'Scandal' - the 1...
