Why the Polls Are Cr@p

Progressives/Leftists/Liberals have kept themselves from imploding by checking the polls and crying out:
Look, Look - NOBODY likes Trump - both Obama and HRC are more popular than he is. Just keep screaming, and, when we click our heels together, we'll be back in power.
Or, something like that. It's just about all that keeps them from OD'ing on Xanax and Chardonnay.

Didja ever wonder how those stats came about? Why they are so at variance with your personal experience?

Wonder no more.

Outing Someone is a VERY Bad Thing

Unless it's someone with a very loose connection to the US military, who was previously held by terrorists, and you give ALL the juicy contact details, including his family's.

Then, it's a RIGHTEOUS act. Although, since the information is classified, a felony.

Miscellaneous Meanderings

I am NOT focused this week - the detritus of my changing life is leaving me with MANY loose ends, which I am trying to deal with, but - usually - only tossing into a box, with a tepid promise to deal with it later (when, presumably, I will have more time and focus).

Some tidbits I've noticed:
  • This guy actually talks sensibly about education reform. Naturally, he is relatively obscure, and likely to remain so, as long as he makes sense. This is Sponsored Content, as he is hawking a book, but - well, read it, and see what you think.
  • I don't understand why, in government, so few are fired for what are clearly firing offenses. Take a look at that article, and see if you agree with me. I'd also like those who are fired to have their pension contributions returned to them, with interest, and have NO pension rights after that. If you do something wrong, you should pay a penalty. Perhaps the possibility of that might discourage the 'Deep State' from cooperating with the ousted party.
  • Re: the above - I DO understand it, but I don't like it. Too much 'Mommy loves you' and not enough 'Daddy's gonna whup yo' a$$'. The feminization of the public arena has created more problems than it solved.
  • When all of the foo-fah of the Trump-Media war starts to get to you, remember - you always have a choice.
  • Bored? Ain't no big thing. And, used properly, boredom can transform your life.
  • Are we heading to Civil War? Well, maybe.
    • ONE of the sides is self-righteous, claiming God is on their side, impossible to talk with, as any attempt gets an hysterical, screaming response - that is, if they bother to stop chanting in an effort to shut the other side up. For that side, NO compromise is acceptable. And, BTW, they are SURE that EVERY person that opposes their complete imposition of EVERY facet of their agenda is a Racist, Evil, Irredeemable, sub-human, who should lose ALL Constitutional Rights for all time.
    • The Other side wants to talk it out and compromise. Lots of luck with that, kids.

Owellian Re-Writing of History

I really like National Review's Mona Charen.  She writes on topics, like the culture, that I blog about.  Today, she reviews a new book that explores the Liberal revision of history into a more acceptable collection of "facts".

She starts her piece with a quote from Winston Churchill, who once said,
History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it.
Which, BTW, he did - in multiple volumes.  His history of the pre-WWII period is comprehensive and riveting (The Gathering Storm).

Mona points out one of the most ubiquitous examples, one that has made into mainstream history books:
In 1963, a popular Democratic president was assassinated by a Marxist named Oswald, who had actually defected to the Soviet Union and returned to the U.S. with a Soviet wife, was an active member of the Fair Play for Cuba Committee, and had attempted to assassinate a right-wing general named Edwin Walker earlier in the year.
So, who is blamed for the Kennedy assassination?  The "climate of hate" for Kennedy that supposedly existed in Dallas.  It was those nasty right-wingers.   Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain (from The Wizard of Oz).

Memes - What Are They, And How Do They Work

If you don't know Bill Whittle, you have really missed one of the most influential thinkers and writers (and now multimedia producers) of the conservative movement.  He's more important (although not as well known) as Rush Limbaugh.  He's also closer to the way that Tea Partiers think, as well as a MUCH lower-key speaker than Rush.

In this video, Bill discusses memes, and some that you may recognize from the Liberal Media.  It doesn't take much time to listen to, and I really do think it's worth your while.
