Putin's Plan?

To control the USA through blackmail of Trump?

Nah.

I don't see Trump buckling under pressure from the Kremlin.

The Democrats, on the other hand, already have:

  • FDR, and later, Truman, were influenced by the MANY infiltrators of the Federal government - Harry Hopkins, the commie-sympathizing curs of the CIA and State Department, et al.
  • Who's dumb enough to think Kennedy wasn't blackmailed? Come ON! The most blackmailable president of the 20th century? There was a reason that the president left the Cubans stranded on the beach of the Bay of Pigs - it enabled Castro to isolate them, torture them, and keep effective opposition down. Then, JFK paid off Castro to keep the secret and let him look good to the Cubans by giving him desperately-needed medicines to exchange for the remaining living prisoners.
  • Notice that the following president - Johnson - didn't go after Russia, and accepted the twisted logic of the Warren Commission to keep the Kremlin appeased?
  • Nixon - Literally, Tricky Dick - decided to do an end run around the Russians by recognizing Red China, their mortal enemy. Ever wonder why the pressure built after that to remove him before the end of his term? Russia was sending a message - don't screw with us.
  • Ford, Carter - they kept their heads down - until Carter decided to thumb his nose at Russia by the Olympics boycott. There was a reason that Anderson ran - and it was NOT to keep Reagan out of office. It was to totally sink Carter's chances of winning.
  • Reagan - assassination attempt. Same thing, and people, that managed the same against the Pope. Guess the Soviets didn't count on the old guys being so tough. Guess who was working in the KGB during that time? Putin.
  • Bush - both of them. Kept their mitts off Russia. I'd be willing to bet that the first Bush was mightily unhappy when the USSR crumbled under his watch. That was likely to be more inertial than planned by Bush.
  • By invading Afghanistan, Bush re-directed the wrath of the leadership from Russia to the USA. Nice trick.
  • Obama - if there is any president that furthered the aims of Communism than he did, I really DON'T want to know about it. The most anti-American 'leader' we've ever been saddled with. Can't wait until he leaves.
Which brings us to Trump.
Like any politician, he is not to be trusted. IF he acts in our interests, OK. If not, use our media - blogging and social media, including Gab (you do have an account, don't you?) to push him to heel.

Returning From Va-Cay

It was a truly wonderful Christmas. We saw family, spent time with the kids and grands, and managed to get to mass at the Marymount convent with our daughter. I don't understand a word of it, but some of the songs are traditional Polish Christmas carols. The order used to be heavily immigrant Polish, so some of the sisters still remember those days.

We also managed to sign the paperwork for the sale of the house. We made our son a good deal, giving up some profit in order that he would have an affordable house that he could manage to keep up and repair (it's had work done, but still needs some updating). He will sign by the middle of January, and from that point on, we will only have 1 house payment for the first time in 10 years (at one point, we had THREE houses!). It should make a major difference as we round third base towards our retirement.

When we arrive home today, we'll return the rental car (we weren't sure of the weather we would be traveling through, and didn't want to risk an accident with our new car), get the house warm and organized, and enjoy the rest of the break (I return on Wednesday). I managed to get some of the planning done for my Honors Physics class, and set up OneNote class notebooks for the others. The administration wants us to be electronic, as much as possible. I'm game, but just haven't used this particular technology in class notebook form.

By this time next year (or, if circumstances lead me differently, in May, 2018), I will be retired. I'm doing a lot of the groundwork now - organizing the house for non-teaching (I.e., getting rid of a lot of junk), doing the paperwork prep, contacting some folks that had previously mentioned short-term workshops that I do to bring in extra money, and taking my writing seriously.

What do I mean by seriously?

Getting paid for it. Writing every day on my fiction. Taking the time out of even busy days to continue forward motion on writing-in-progress.

I've started work, and dropped it, in the past, when life interfered. Sometimes, it was necessary - planning for funerals, dealing with illness - mine or a family member, working on large projects with a deadline - these aren't the things that kept me from writing.

It's the personal self-doubt that was my real opposition. The setting work aside when other demands intruded. Wasting time with aimless web browsing. Giving into guilt when my kids or husband complained about me being on the computer. Not taking my work seriously enough to insist that it came FIRST - before other commitments.

NaNoWriMo was a revelation for me. It was only a month, so shutting out doubts, interruptions, and complaints was relatively easy in that short term. I was able to crank out from 1500 - 3000 words a day, day after day. When I fell behind during Thanksgiving, I didn't give up, just committed to doubling my output for a few more days. Slowly, I caught up, and, with a burst at the end, just barely hit the mark.

50,000 words. It needs revision, expansion in a few places (I used the # symbol to great effect, marking places where I needed to return and untangle confusion, expand on character development, or add another scene to make the story flow more smoothly), and cleaning up of loose ends. But, the core story is complete.

I signed up for the January revision on NaNoWriMo, which should help me with all of the above. My goal is to have it ready for a look by a beta reader by the end of the school year. For the first time in my life, I believe that it can happen.

VA Change That Could be Quick and Relatively Painless

I did not know this, but it makes sense.

Here’s one quick fix that could save many lives and cost taxpayers almost nothing: 47 percent of VA users are 65 or older and already on Medicare. They need bypass surgery, angioplasty and hip and knee replacements, like other seniors.
Often, they use the VA to avoid Medicare’s out-of-pocket expenses. Their average household income is $36,000. Enabling them to use Medicare without co-pays could cut VA waiting lists by nearly half.
This is considerably more troubling.
It’s not a money problem. Congress appropriated a record $163 billion to the VA in 2016, more than the department requested.
The real problem is a lack of discipline at all levels. Consider the alarming increase in central-line infections — a key indicator of hospital quality. These lethal infections are totally preventable when medical staff rigorously follow protocols. Some civilian hospitals have reduced them to zero. The VA has no excuse.
Whoever Trump appoints as VA secretary will face a hostile and legally entrenched bureaucracy determined to protect its own cushy jobs, instead of serving vets.

Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics

I had a hard time believing it, but the Deluded Democrats (copyright pending) are trying to pass off the idea that Trump is getting handed a TERRIFIC economy!
And, it will be HIS FAULT when it craters!
Oh, please. Everybody knows how bad it is for the average man (and many women).
Investors, which is everyone that has savings or a retirement fund, know how anemic the economy has been. My 403(b)'s have barely matched what they were eight years ago. It has made many fearful about retiring, which makes it hard for younger people to get work.
Savings are no better; I'm sitting with some of that money in savings, at 0.5 %. Can't get rich on that - can't even keep up with inflation.
Housing prices have (barely) returned to where they were before the housing meltdown, in GOOD markets. In bad markets, some people are still underwater on their mortgages.
For older men in those states, Bloomberg reports, inflation-adjusted pay is below the level in — wait for it — 1979. That’s two generations lost. In those swing states, the idea that Obama is handing back a booming economy will be seen there as an absurd boast.
Even if, in the last month or so, what economists call the “animal spirits” of economic activity have begun to stir. That’s because of the possibility that the credit already belongs to Trump.
The wretchedness of our current economy isn't just one man's opinion. Not is that the only problem that Obama is passing on, that he refuses to take credit for - international relations is, at best, shaky and mistrustful, at worst, open war. But, not according to Obama, who sees nothing but sunny skies.
Characteristic of the head scratchers in Obama’s speech was this: “No foreign terrorist organization has successfully planned and executed an attack on our homeland.” Elsewhere in the speech the president cited the “homegrown and largely isolated individuals” who killed Americans in Orlando, San Bernardino, Boston, and Fort Hood, and who were “radicalized online.” Never mind the fact that the Fort Hood terrorist exchanged a dozen or so emails with Anwar al-Awlaki, the American cleric who worked so hard to encourage American Muslims to murder their fellow citizens, or that al Qaeda and ISIS were actively calling for such attacks, and providing instructions for how to carry them out in their online magazines.
People listen to this sort of hairsplitting, and they think, that just doesn’t seem right. One hears the president, during the same speech, praise the campaign against the Islamic State as “sustainable,” and one can’t help but wonder, since when did we want a military effort against a trumped up gang of women-beating thugs like this to be “sustainable”? Swift, yes; crushing, sure; but “sustainable?” How about “victorious”? How about “over”?
It will be a hoot watching Progressives spin around like dervishes trying to overturn their former positions. The one that I will find the most entertaining is observing them deciding that the term "Scandal" is NOT just reserved for sexual dalliances, but also for:

  • Linkages between industry and government
  • Screwups on the part of administration officials
  • Trying to put the best spin on those screwups

Hating the President, and opposing him at every opportunity, will become, once again, the HIGHEST form of Patriotism. Judging from the way the #NotMyPresident marchers have begun planning a coup, Trump will be lucky to not have some future Progressive put an asterisk next to the 45 in the history books.

Time Magazine - We Picked Trump, But We Want to Make Sure You Know We HATE Him

The pick of Trump as Man of the Year is offset by the article about him. The Elitists of Time want to be sure that you understand, they picked Trump for the same reasons as they previously picked Hitler. They both, in the exalted view of the Elitist Class, are absolutely Deplorable - Just Awful!

Yeah.

They mistate facts, use slurs and innuendos to great effect, and manage to - in the Proper Elitist Way, you understand - convey that they DESPISE That Man.

Remember when that phrase was used against FDR, by another group of over-privileged wanna-be rulers?

Put Your Money Where Your Soul Is

I read this account of the making of a film that target egregious human rights abuses, and how AMERICAN companies/individuals are putting their income above their soul.

One of the entities is AMC Theaters, which - I did not formerly know - is owned by Chinese companies. What they are doing is against the spirit of American values.

Please read this account of the film about the practice of Organ Harvesting from unwilling donors.

Then, take Action:

  • Boycott AMC Theaters
  • Pass this link on - make sure that you send it to all SJWs. If they are going to position themselves as caring about Justice, then they ought to be confronted with something that should OUTRAGE them.
  • Contact your Senators/Congresspeople
  • Bring this up with your church. The churches should put this issue at the top of their attention list.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Progressives, and the Media That Loves Them, are currently wondering why - oh, why? Why did those Stupid, Racist, Hate-filled, Inbred Yokels vote for Trump?

And, they are Totally Surprised that those kind of questions are the reason that it happened.

Ace of Spades has the Real Reason.
