Turkish Islamacists - Are They in YOUR Neighborhood?

Check out this information about the Gulen schools , that have taken advantage of our charter school rules to bring in Islamacist teaching in publicly-funded American schools. This list is as of several years ago, but many of the schools are still operating. Those who know of the Horizon Science Academies in Cleveland think of them as being ineffective and needing to be shut down. Share

New Short Story

Leftism for Beginners - Marcuse

This section of my book took some time to complete. Not only did I have to do a lot more research, but part-way through, I broke my leg. Nevertheless, I Persisted (to use the favorite meme of the Left). But, it's finally ready for consumption and criticism. I'm putting the pdf on my Google drive here. Share

Health Update

The leg is healing - slowly, very slowly. Every morning, I wake up stiff as an 80-year old woman who'd been on a 3-day drunk. Sore. Really sore. Den comes into town (I'm in Cleveland right now) today, and I'm going to return to sensible eating and exercising. Much as I hate it when he nags, I do seem to need a prod to get started. Today isn't too bad. When the weather isn't changing, it's a huge improvement. Unfortunately, in both SC and OH, changing weather is the norm. Next week, on Wednesday, I return to the ortho guy; I expect to hear that I'm ready to take off the boot, and return to limited movement and PT. That will be the hard part - the day after PT leaves me feeling like I'd been hit by a car. And, I HAVE been hit by a car, so I know what it feels like. Speaking of health-impaired people, check out this cartoon about Pelosi. Share

Writing Update

I SHOULD put this on my official site, but - to be honest, I'm lazy today. Too involved in getting ready for my trip to Cleveland to take the time. It's been a good week. I got the OK last Monday to start putting weight on my right leg, and it's getting easier to get around. The day after I exert myself, I'm generally quite sore, but, overall, it's improving. I'm currently making lists for packing, tidying up loose ends around the house, and arranging for any equipment or peripherals I might need. I won't be back in town until almost 2 weeks from today. Introducing a New Blogger

Please welcome John Wilder, of Wilder, Wealthy, and Wise , as the new co-blogger. He graciously answered my call for assistance in keeping this blog going. He should be posting about once a week. If you'd like to join us, send me contact info in the comments. Share

That's Why I Blog

The guy that wrote this post posits that being able to vent your annoyance/anger at things you can't change is cathartic. I'm skeptical of adopting the idea whole-hog, as many who wander down the Rabbit Hole of Everyone Here Agrees With Me end up even MORE angry and hostile. Those tend to be the ones who are missing a few cogs on their mental/emotional machinery. But, for the Rational, like myself, venting can be useful and cleansing. Share

Where I'm Posting

I've been busy, and not just here. Some places where I've been blogging: On LIberty's Torch, about a shareholder action that might affect the ability of non-Leftists to access online income. On Outlaw Bloggers, about the Trans In Sports situation. On The Declination, on multiple immigration issues. All the while, plugging away at my OTHER writing. Share
I was following an oddball link to WWI aerial tactics, and paused to read it. Now, I'm not a military vet, or a flier, or connected in any way to combat (except as a relative of MANY vets). But, I read it, fascinated by the simplicity of rules that, if followed, would improve chances of that flier coming home safely. As I read them, I realized that they also applied to political combat. Here's how: 1. Try to secure advantages before attacking. If possible, keep the sun behind you. This SEEMS to be common sense, but is often ignored. Many people shoot off their mouths before they have an organization behind them, giving away their plan of attack before beginning. Share
