And, This Would Be a BAD Thing?

Image
No. This is how the system was supposed to work. Those who come here and illegally benefit from Welfare Benefits are, in fact, ripping off the system. They should not be able to live here for years, taking money from the taxpayers to do so, then get a Green Card. Share

Of Shoes and Ships and Sealing Wax

Image
From Lewis Carroll: "The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax-- Of cabbages--and kings-- And why the sea is boiling hot-- And whether pigs have wings."   This is often thought to be a nice little children's rhyme, if a trifle silly. No such thing - it's a dire warning not to stroll with shady characters, no matter how benign they seem. "It seems a shame," the Walrus said, "To play them such a trick, After we've brought them out so far, And made them trot so quick!" The Carpenter said nothing but "The butter's spread too thick!" "I weep for you," the Walrus said: "I deeply sympathize." With sobs and tears he sorted out Those of the largest size, Holding his pocket-handkerchief Before his streaming eyes. "O Oysters," said the Carpenter, "You've had a pleasant run! Shall we be trotting home again?' But answer came t...

Writing Progress

I'm still not finished with the book revision - after several setbacks (some my fault, some just - Life). I did, however, finish my first short story. It's on Kindle, and, because Kindle Unlimited won't allow a price less than $0.99, that's what it is. Of course, if you have KU (free for the first month), it will cost nothing. On the other hand, the price is about the same as a cheap cup of coffee. Which, given the title, is appropriate. Here's the link. Share

Ya' Gotta Know When to Leave the Stage

And, apparently, the Obamas don't have that knowledge.  They are in negotiations to produce a Netflix show/channel. We've had them before in American politics, guys who were so mesmerized by their time in office, that they couldn't bear to leave after their term(s) were over. Jimmy Carter Interfered internationally - a violation of the Logan Act. Criticized the American government that still sends him a check Was a friend of every dictator on the planet Bill Clinton Not only a bad president , but a greedy ex-president And, the first President to hang around, wanting yet another turn on the stage - Teddy Roosevelt. Started the Bull Moose party after the Republicans declined to return him to the White House, leading to the election of Woodrow Wilson, racist (segregated the Federal workforce), arrested his political opponents (Leftists in the Palmer Raids), and utterly failed at the peace-making after WWI , which almost directly led to WWII. Initiated ...

Are the Trump Team Experiencing Unusual Security Clearance Problems?

Short answer: No Longer answer: Hell, No In 2008, Ben Rhodes (brother of CBS News President), was denied either a clearance or interim clearance from the FBI (probably in the days when they actually took their mission seriously). That didn't stop him from accessing high-level secret papers. Today's White House has problems, in great part due to the need to staff their offices, but - those individuals have to work under temporary clearances, due to the YUGE backlog of applications.  The article cites structural problems with the process, but - could SOME of this be deliberate malice on the part of the Deep State, designed to cause problems for the Trump administration? That chucklehead, McMasters, has allowed Susan Rice UNFETTERED access and continuation of her clearance status. Why? Trump's team, whether due to inexperience, delay in hiring, or sloth, failed to turn in their paperwork quickly enough to get their clearance properly vetted in time. Clearance ...

A Liberal's Journey to the Right

I found Red Pill Jew  today - he commented on a post on Liberty's Torch , and I looked him up. What a Treat! I spent WAY too much time on his site, but, I just couldn't help myself - he's both a terrific writer with a fresh viewpoint, but also has multiple links to other sites (you know how it is when you start down the Berry Path). I wanted to link to the story of his pathway from Birth Liberal to Thinking Conservative. Share

What Should Be Done with Democratic Felons?

In this case, I do mean the Clintons - there is a forum going on at Watcher of Weasels , and the discussion is lively. Share

But...The Founding Fathers Were Young, So...

This post was prompted by the meme below: The idea being that we should listen, and take counsel from, those anti-gun activists in Broward Co. Keep in mind, they had all finished school long prior to those experiences, and had taken on the responsibilities of grown men. - Lafayette - commissioned an officer at 13. Even though he was accepted as a soldier in the Colonial Army (major general), note that he was NOT given responsibility for having troops under him. He had to demonstrate more than a desire to do good to have them trust him with that power. - Monroe - at age 11, he was simultaneously attending school part of the year, and working on his family's farm. At 16, he left to attend college - actually learning things, not partying in FL on Spring Break. He left 2 years later to join the Army. - Lee - he had already graduated from college, and was working as a lawyer when he joined up. - Hale - at 14, he was sent to Yale College. After graduating, with 1st-Class Honor...

"Bright Normal" - Yeah, That's Probably What I Am

I've never been what'cha call an intellectual. I do think fast - I seldom was that kid who walked out of class in a fuzz, totally bewildered by the content, no matter what the class. But, I was never the one who dazzled by the poignant insight, the deft explanation of the philosophical underpinnings of a theory, or could back up my thinking with a bewildering maze of mathematical scribblings. I'm above average. But, not by a dizzying gap. I'm OK with that. A lot of the world's work gets down by those of us who are close enough to the average to be able to hang with them, connect with their thinking, and translate the mission/activity into terms that the normal person can comprehend. It's what often made me a better science teacher than those whose understanding far exceeded mine. I could break the concepts into understandable bite-size pieces, and take the kids step-by-step through the math needed to accomplish the analysis. In short, I was often a rat...
