Are the Unborn Persons?
What it comes down to is whether there are any living entities that aren't entitled to live their life without an early death to benefit another.
We have selected some organisms for elimination:
- Germs hazardous to humans or those organisms they prefer (such as our pets or animals we breed for food). Or those bacteria/viruses that put essential foods we depend on to survive at risk.
- Moving up the Organism Ladder, humans of groups that have shown their intent to kill 'our group', whether through direct war or other war equivalent actions, such as chemical or biological attacks. Or political oppression, and laws enacted to kill us, or leave us enslaved.
- They may be distinguished by a different national identity.
- They may be of a different race or ethnicity.
- They may follow a different religion.
- Their politics might be considered a threat.
All of the above have been considered reason to kill people. Sometimes, the reasoning is that the affected persons are "Not Really Human". They are not considered smart enough, or or with a culture that is " barbaric". Or possessing sexual characteristics that remove them from the Human class.
Or having birth defects. Or chromosomal anomalies that distinguish them from the norm.
Or being conceived by someone the woman doesn't want to have a continued connection with.
Or not being wanted by the birth mother. At least not at this time.
I haven't the ability, nor the time to refute these reasons. A friend of mine, Francis Porretto, has written a book that can, however.
It's on Kindle Unlimited for free, or $0.99 if you want to buy it outright. You might consider buying the paperback edition, for lending out to people interested in exploring this issue.
