A hot area of controversy will be the next census. Like many conservatives, I have concern that the enumeration will not be either accurate or fair. I have reservations about the honesty of some of Obama's more political allies; to be straightforward, I believe that they would lie, cheat, or steal to get the number for the liberal-leaning states.
What? How can there be chicanery in counting people? After all, every citizen is entitled to be counted, right?
Yes, they are. And, due to interpretations of the Constitution by Left-leaning radicals, ALSO included in that enumeration are non-citizens. Not a huge deal, if by non-citizens you mean resident aliens legally entitled to be here.
Uh-uh. What the Leftists mean is EVERYBODY, illegals included, so let's load up the states with a mess of border-jumpers, so they get more representation in the Congress.
Does that sound fair? It doesn't, to me.
So, in addition to grabbing for warm bodies, legal or not, there is also a large incentive to - ACCIDENTALLY over-count. What is over-counting? Counting twice, taking someone's word that there are more people than can be accounted for, deciding that a percentage of people must have been left off the census, and, therefore, mathematical ADJUSTMENTS must be made (surprisingly, this never happens in conservative strongholds).
All of the above, and many more shady tactics.
I'm funny. I play by the rules. I don't always like the rules, but I follow them. I resent those who decide that they are so SPECIAL they don't have to follow the rules (these people never seem to believe that I also am entitled to ignore the rules. I guess some animals are more equal than others).
There are 2 kinds of societies - those in which you only receive benefits by virtue of who you are related to, or know personally.
And the USA, in which the rules are the same for all (yeah, I know that's an ideal, not always reality. But, show me a case where, if you qualify under the rules, you can't benefit. Doesn't happen).
For that reason, we have merit tests - they aim to take the process away from benefiting by relationship, and allow anyone passing at a high level to qualify. For those arguing that poor minorities are unfairly excluded under this system, I will point out that poor whites also have a handicap. (Funny, poor Asians don't seem to suffer - must be that special tricky Asian magic).
If we allow the Census to become so thoroughly politicized, this country is on its last legs. I mean it. It may still be called the USA, but the Constitution will be waste paper.
