The NY law put in religious exemptions; that is, presumably, religions will not have to perform same-sex marriages, if their doctrine is opposed to it.

He periodically cleans up.  Goes to the VA, dries out.

Then, once sober and beginning to feel better, promptly hits the bars again.  Until he runs out of money, and is on the street again.

In other words, those who vote should have a financial stake in the outcome.  Voters should have to present some form of proof that they paid a non-sales tax that year.

I'm completely against raising the debt ceiling.  If that pushes us into default - OK.  We're in the position of an out-of-control spender, who is getting our credit limit raised.  There is NO hope that we can pay back that amount of money.  It's not fair to the younger generations, who will owe, without ever getting any benefits from that expenditure.

We Catholics do seem to do "suffering" with a completely un-Modern approach.  We offer up the suffering.  We accept the suffering, rather than try to eliminate it entirely from our lives.

Now, remember, it's NYMag, which means that its research may be questionable.  However, FWIW, the writer says that men are losing interest in sex, due to spending that physical and emotional energy on porn.

We lived in Pittsburgh during the early 70's - at that time, newsboys hawked papers on the corners of the East Liberty streets (where the University was located).  My husband said, "I didn't realize that the Courier was a Black paper".
